Getting Ready

Im getting ready to start a new children's book this fall. Though I had thought about painting it digitally, I will be going the traditional route with a limited pallet; black, yellow and brown. Iv been using more colors now and then, but really feel that a simple pallet fits for this direction. Simple + Simple = Clarity.

Boy Meets Banana

Looking at the three images, with different options on my screen, I decided to go my usual way of coloring. Im reluctant to use techniques with these because the watercolor needs to be dominant. It would still carry the visual weight, but I also want to keep the digital aspect lite. For no other reason than a personal preference.

As I do some sample finishes for the book dummy, I will go back and mess around with pallet and coloring technique. The images will help average out the look of the book. Its not much different than the last book I did, but it has more color, so Im trying some new things out.

New Book in the Works

Not sure about the colors here. It's an image from a book I'm working on with a local author. She has some great imagery in the story.

Simple Kingdom has been changed. I used the paypal button and boy did that get easy. I made a store several years ago and it was definitely not as easy. Lets hear it for the smart people. There is only one image up so far. Its the watercolor from the Wandering post before it was colored and flipped. The other three will go up soon.
