Fertility Toad's Pattern

The image for Fertility Toad is only half the picture.  This goes to the right (minus the red one on top) with some other stuff.  The pattern will get some more tweaks in composition but its pretty much there.

Moving On

When this pattern is seen in a really large repeat, each bird eventually looks at the free birds.  Down, up, across, even the crane eventually sees them.  Its a step towards the narrative aspect I'm going after.  Next step is the library, bookstore, and gallery to look at some inspiration.  I will have to post some of what I find and get out of my own head.

Very psyched about the reaction project.  Its an idea I think is solid.  I'm thinking I wont post any of its development though.  Today, I also picked up 1 tube of cherry red Holbein watercolor, 1 sheet 3 ply Strathmore Bristol board, had a good sketch review in Dig. Narrative, good crit in Ill. One, caught the tail end of a Bob Dorsey mix media demo, and nailed that idea down. Fantastic day.

Prototype

Got a couple ideas from this quick sketch.  Building a bigger story for wallpaper.

On another note, Im looking forward to starting the NYC painting.  Paul Z. is onto it already and has inspired me to get things going.  I think the bird man from "New Years" will play a key roll.  Iv secured a model and will shoot after the holidays.

Two look alright but five would be better.  I like the small overlap and will explore that more.

On another, another note, I like this shape and was thinking about it on the drive back from NYC last November.  Id love to get my Hartford pals to each paint one.  With all the different styles, it would make a very cool print when all put together.

Debutante

I can see this bird as molded plastic.  It would fit in my palm and I would bend its wings and toss it in the sky.
