Last year I picked up the pace exploring the benefits of keeping sketchbooks. First one, then two, then three, four, and five together, trying different papers and keeping themes together. Keeping them; filling them, has brought new things that would have otherwise stayed hidden. Improving drawing skills, composition, and concept methodology are there too. On Friday night, I was thrilled when a challenge was set forth in the form of a wonderful gift. 12 sketchbooks of various sizes were given to me at this years Hartford MFA graduation ceremony to fill in one year; one a month. Beautiful Moleskines, big and small, and a couple accordions. The folio sizes will probably house my thesis. Aside from the new sizes, the one small accordion is the most exciting because I have wanted to do a continuous landscape with wildlife for a while.
Thanks, Q.
