I sketched out a hawk for tomorrows demo but the values just weren't there. I have a beautiful Chinese teapot I got in an amazing little shop in Oahu that I decided to use instead, taking my own photo with better lighting. The store I bought the teapot in had a wall of different pots of varying quality and detail. One I will always remember had 100 roses carved into it. They were "on" it really; made up of them. We bought some great tea as well. My then wife got this one and I got a little red one with a dragon and a phoenix on it. That vacation was perfect.Another reason I did the tea party picture instead of the hawk is that I don't know what I would do with a hawk right now. I have some ideas of where this can go, and would feel comfortable inserting it into the portfolio site when its done. So then it has a purpose. I do a lot of art that doesn't leave the blog, or the website, but its still illustration in my eyes. So its art making, or picture making only, and the purpose of it is to explore and grow and to live in it while telling some sort of story, even if that story is one sentence.
